SolidWorks AddIn Does Not Show up in AddIn Menu

I have been learning writing SolidWorks addins using Microsoft Visual Studio 2008. In order to register my addin with SolidWorks so that it shows up in the “Tools->Add-Ins” menu, I had to add the following post-build event to my project:

For 64-bit system:

"%Windir%\Microsoft.Net\Framework64\v2.0.50727\regasm" "$(TargetPath)" /codebase

For 32-bit system:

"%Windir%\Microsoft.Net\Framework\v2.0.50727\regasm" "$(TargetPath)" /codebase

Im am playing with addins for solidworks as well and have the opposite problem of this. I want to delete an older addin completely but it keeps showing up in the addin toolbar in solidworks. Any ideas? Thanks.

Mike, you need to delete a registry item for your old SW add-in. Open Windows Registry Editor, go to “HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\SolidWorks\Addins”. Find the key related to your old SW add-in and delete it and you should be good to go.
